Advanced QuickBooks Consultant
in Phoenix, AZ or West Coast

Description: Out Of The Box Technology, a leading QuickBooks consulting firm, has a need for an advanced QuickBooks consultant to join our team. The qualified candidate will assist small- and medium-sized businesses and franchises in the US and Canada with their QuickBooks - set up, training, and trouble shooting. The qualified candidate for this position will work remotely from home (the majority of the time) and must have a minimum of three years QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online experience. Knowledge of inventory in QuickBooks a plus. A Bachelor's Degree is required. QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is a also a plus.

A qualified candidate:

  • Has an understanding of accounting principles
  • Must be able to learn quickly
  • Understands a Chart of Accounts and how transactions should be treated (assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenses)
  • Must know how journal entries and reversing accruals work
  • Must know the difference between cash and accrual basis accounting
  • Must know how to do reconciliations of all types (i.e. bank, loan statements, other BS accounts)
  • Must be able to allocate payment to interest expense and liability principal reduction (understand amortization schedules)
  • Must know how to run reports in QuickBooks
  • Must be able to review a balance sheet and profit & loss (P&L) and know what is wrong
  • has payroll experience - preferred
  • has an understanding of sales tax filings - would be a plus
  • Has 1099 experience
  • Has A/P & A/R experience
  • Must be analytical
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Is able to work independently without much supervision
  • Has a sense of urgency when working on projects
  • Has excellent communication skills with customers and others
  • Should know both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop -- familiarity with bank feeds a plus
  • Has excellent computer skills -- Excel is very important but would also need to be good at using the Internet, Outlook, Word and phone apps
  • Must be able to retain knowledge regarding all customers assigned to them -- or use our programs to keep notes. Must know the status of work at any point in time. Must be able to learn and understand your customers' business.

This is not a "help desk" position. Our consultants have appointments scheduled throughout the day and work with clients one-on-one remotely (sometimes onsite). Some client issues are fixed in one appointment, others have on-going projects where the consultant serves as project manager as well as getting the work done to meet the end goal.

Description: We are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records for various clients. The ideal candidate would have experience with both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.

Responsibilities: The bookkeeper would handle some or all of these responsibilities depending on the client

  • Import chart of accounts for new clients (QBD & QBO)
  • Connect the bank & credit card accounts using Bank Feeds for new clients (QBD & QBO)
  • Posting of all bank and credit card transactions (using bank feeds or manual entry)
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable (most clients handle this themselves)
  • Posting of Franchise royalties and fees for the franchise clients
  • Process payroll and file payroll taxes
  • Posting of payroll transactions from outside payroll service if client handles payroll
  • Prepare 1099's
  • Prepare sales tax returns and process payments
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Monthly accounting adjustments (i.e. depreciation, interest, accrued expenses, etc.)
  • Reconciliation of loan balances with statements
  • Other bookkeeping tasks as required
  • Prepare financial statements for clients

Education and Experience:

  • An associate degree in accounting, finance or business an advantage
  • Payroll experience is preferred
  • Must understand Accounting Principles
  • Working knowledge of relevant computer applications
